Nicole Melanson is...
Nicole Melanson is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Keene, NH. A lifelong artist, she creates abstract, nature-inspired paintings, drawings, and small art objects that explore the synchronicity of patterns throughout nature.
Working in a ritualistic and automatic fashion, her work aims to channel the Divine and reveal secrets of nature. Bold line and often vivid color are staples in her gestural landscapes of clouds, branches, and any other forms that may appear to her in her creative process.
Before shifting her focus back to fine arts, Nicole received her BFA in Film from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and her non-narrative films have screened at Anthology Film Archives, Mushroom Arts Gallery (both NYC), and the Athens International Film & Video Fest (Athens, Ohio).
While living in New York Nicole continued to hone her skills as an artist through drawing and painting while enjoying a successful retail management career at acclaimed landmarks like the High Line and Whitney Museum where she hosted events for artists such as Danny Lyon, Carol Bove, and José Parlá.
Her artworks have been shown at RAW Artist Showcases in Brooklyn, the Whitney Museum Staff Art Show, and she could regularly be found on the NYC subway drawing in sketchbooks through her commute.
